Healthy Homes

Every Blueoak home is packed with eco features designed to enhance your mental
and physical wellbeing, whilst also protecting our environment. We believe in health
and happiness being at the heart of every home.

Reuse and recycle

Where possible, Blueoak Estates reuse and recycle existing buildings to create beautiful new homes. We maximise energy efficiency by enhancing the fabric of the building. This includes improving insulation, replacing windows, installing low energy lighting and A rated appliances, and using renewable sources of energy where possible. All of these contribute to the aim of improving the EPC rating of the building.

Designing for sustainability

Traditional methods of construction are not always the most sustainable which is why Blueoak always take a fresh look at building design and use renewable, recyclable or energy efficient materials and processes where possible. This not only helps to minimise CO2 emissions but lowers running costs for our homeowners too.

Health and wellbeing

Our commitment to building healthy homes for the future means every one of our schemes is purposefully and carefully conceived to maximise fresh air, natural daylight and space. During the design process we use daylight analysis techniques to ensure that our homes welcome as much sunlight into a room as possible. In our city centre developments, acoustic glazing also significantly reduces the noise entering a home through closed windows, ensuring our homeowners can enjoy peace and quiet in their own home.

Open plan living

Blueoak homes are designed to bring friends and family together with intelligently configured open plan living spaces perfect for cooking, dining and socialising. We also recognise the importance of being able to ‘get away from it all’ which is why we always offer separate private spaces for rest and recuperation.

Outdoor space

Our developments can only be found in the most desirable locations in the North West. Whether it’s a tranquil village, vibrant city centre or somewhere in between, our clients always know that they can expect access to outdoor green space. Many of our developments also offer a balcony, landscaped garden, or private terrace – and sometimes all three!

Water conservation

The efficient use of water resources is considered very early on in our design process. We install low flow water appliances across every Blueoak development. These use significantly less water than conventional water appliances.

Air quality and temperature control

The biggest single use of energy in the home is heating. Blueoak homes are designed to take advantage of the natural heat and light from the sun. As the UK’s first partner of Velux, we can proudly offer all of our homeowners the Velux Active Indoor Climate Control Package. Smart sensors continuously monitor the temperature, humidity and CO2 levels in the home and open or close roof windows accordingly to maintain a healthy indoor climate.

Renewable energy

Blueoak Estates use renewable energy sources to reduce carbon emissions where possible. Many developments feature solar PV panels and MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery). Select developments also use Air Source Heat Pumps which extract heat from the air outside to power radiators, underfloor heating, water systems and more.

Waste reduction

Blueoak Estates minimise the impact of waste by choosing natural and recyclable materials wherever possible. We also employ a SWMP (Site Waste Management Plan) for every development which ensures any building waste is segregated for recycling.

Ecology and biodiversity

Our developments are designed and constructed in such a way that sustains and promotes biodiversity. Before undertaking any work, we conduct a thorough ecological assessment to ensure we protect all local wildlife. Sustainable drainage systems also reduce pressure on the existing network whilst creating attractive green spaces and wildlife habitats.

Access and equality

Blueoak Estatates are mindful and inclusive of the varying needs of people who are looking to purchase a home. We apply an inclusive approach to all stages of planning, design and construction to ensure that our developments closely meet the needs of the people they were designed for.

Success Stories

Daylight makes a difference

Blueoak Estates announced its commitment to creating healthy homes by becoming the UK’s first representative of The VELUX Group, the driving force behind the international Indoor Generation campaign.

The campaign raises awareness of how our indoor environments can impact our health and wellbeing, revealing that the air inside our homes is up to five times more polluted than the air outside.
